Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play a crucial role in addressing social, environmental, and economic challenges, often relying on public support, donations, and partnerships to achieve their objectives. Effective public engagement is essential for NGOs to build trust, raise awareness, and mobilize resources. Corporate communication, which involves the strategic management of communication processes within an organization, is a key factor in fostering public engagement. In Keffi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, NGOs face challenges in reaching and engaging the public effectively due to limited resources, miscommunication, and a lack of strategic communication practices. This study examines how corporate communication impacts public engagement in NGOs, focusing on communication strategies, media relations, and community outreach efforts.
